RTX 5060 vs RTX 4060: Same Price, How Much Faster?
The RTX 5060 is 17% faster than the RTX 4060 on our performance index, and it launched at the same $299. Both cards have 8GB of video memory, and the newer card is rated 30W higher (145W against 115W).
If you are buying new, the 5060 is the better card at that price. If you already own a 4060, the gap is too small to justify replacing it.

"Recommended specs met" counts the games whose recommended graphics card each GPU matches or beats. It covers the 19 games from 2024 onward in our catalogue that name a recommended card, and the 16 unreleased games whose publishers have posted one.
What each card clears
Among 19 recent games that name a recommended card, the RTX 4060 meets 14 and the RTX 5060 meets 16. For unreleased games with published specs, it is 7 against 10 of 16. Only the 5060 clears the recommended card for SAW: Genesis, Gears of War: E-Day and The Talos Principle 3.
The 8GB question
Speed is not what limits these cards; memory is. Fable, Outward 2, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, The Talos Principle 3 and Lords of the Fallen II already recommend more than 8GB, and neither card can be upgraded. Expect to lower texture quality in the heaviest games at 1440p on either card. The full picture is in is 8GB of VRAM enough in 2027.
Features
Both support DLSS upscaling and frame generation. Only the RTX 5060, as an RTX 50-series card, supports DLSS 4's Multi Frame Generation, which helps most in games that already run at a playable base frame rate.
Verdict
- Buying new: the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060. It is faster for the same launch price.
- Already own an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060: keep it. A 17% gain with the same 8GB is not a meaningful upgrade. Look at a card with 12GB or more instead, using the upgrade advisor.
